Waking the Fallen is a short single-player mission designed for Gears of War. It was a small single-player design challenge that I did for myself and completed in about 2 weeks. My goal was to learn UE3 tools and expand my skills in single-player level design. I wanted to design a short sequence with about 5 minutes of gameplay that would easily guide the player through the game space while providing fun combat encounters. Strategic weapon placement and upgrades for the player can also be found in the level as the combat difficulty increases. I also used Kismet to script the combat sequences including a small Matinee scene before fighting the end boss.
